A combined kitchen and dining space for a diplomatic residence in Gigiri. The brief required a space that was both highly functional for a busy household and visually impressive for formal diplomatic entertaining. We designed a chef-quality kitchen layout concealed behind bi-fold joinery panels, revealing a seamless white entertaining surface when not in use.
The split brief — utilitarian kitchen versus formal dining room — in a single space required every design element to do double duty. The solution was a carefully orchestrated layering of fixed and moveable elements that allow the room to transform completely within minutes.
The residence now hosts regular diplomatic functions. Multiple guests have enquired about the kitchen design, and the project has generated two direct referrals for MN Design Studio from guests who experienced the space.
