A full ground-floor redesign for a family of five in Lang'ata. The parents wanted a home that could absorb the energy of three young children while remaining a beautiful space to come home to. Durability, washability, and clever storage were as important as aesthetics.
Designing for a family with young children means every surface, finish, and fabric choice has to be able to take daily punishment without looking lived-in within six months. We built an entire specification around performance materials β performance velvets, porcelain-tiled floors, lacquered joinery β that are beautiful and indestructible.
Two years on, the family reports that the space looks as good as the day it was handed over. The parents describe it as "the most functional home we've ever lived in β and somehow also the most beautiful."
